Peppermint

Peppermint is recognized as one of the world’s most ancient medicine. There are archeological evidences that date back to ten thousand years ago.

Peppermint is usually found and cultivated in the areas of southern and central Europe. The stem lengths of peppermint range from 30 to 70 cm tall while the leaves measure about 4 to 9 cm in length and 1.5 to 4 cm in width. The flowers of peppermints are purple in color, and they grow spirally around the stem, forming thick and pointless thorns.

Over the years, the health uses of peppermint have become prevalent throughout the world. Just like any other herbal medicinal plants, peppermint is believed to have medical and remedy properties when used. The peppermint plant provides relief for stomach upset, holds down the growth of certain bacteria, and helps smoothen and relax muscles when applied to the skin. It is also a great source of Vitamin A and C.

The peppermint tea has a high content of menthol flavoring, which is commonly found in toothpaste, chewing gum, confectionary and ice cream. Peppermint oil contains menthyl esters and menthone, which are substances commonly found in some soaps and shampoos.

Based on proven research, the oil of peppermint can help reduce some symptoms related to irritable bowel syndrome. However, peppermint extract has some related negative effects that are still being assessed by researchers. A peppermint oil gerd is a stomach condition in which the digestion of fats speeds up as the peppermint oil relaxes the stomach muscles and bile flowing. If you take too much peppermint, the immune system will worsen during digestion.

It can also be risky to use peppermint oil if pregnancy is in the later stages. It is better to consult a doctor before using the herb. However, as a precaution, do not drink too much peppermint tea if breastfeeding as it is known to reduce the flow of milk and endanger the infant.

The peppermint oil and mice combination is a natural solution to eliminate mice without using harmful implements such as sprays, traps, and poisons. A connection between peppermints and the brain is also established in researches concerning nervous stomachs.

To some people, peppermints and their effects come in mild and positive ways. But there are still side effects that you should always be careful about. These side effects can cause major and minor damages to your body. So it’s better to observe proper dosage and consult the doctor before you use it.
